What the table means in practice
Affiliate marketers are on firmer ground than the folklore suggests. None of the five tools bans affiliate links as a category. The risk is adjacent categories: an affiliate offer for a supplement, a betting tipster, a crypto course, or an MLM product falls under a different rule, and automated review reads it the strict way.
Anyone in gambling or crypto has three tools that say no in writing (Beacons, Milkshake, and Bio Link for gambling; Beacons and Milkshake for crypto). Linktree's standards do not name either, which is not the same as permission.
Creators with adult content face the widest spread. Milkshake, Beacons, and Bio Link prohibit it, and Bio Link goes as far as swimwear and cosplay it considers adult. Linktree allows links to legal adult content that is marked sensitive and does not advertise full-service sex work. Read the exact wording on the page you are on; the difference between "links to" and "hosting" matters.
Everyone is subject to the spam and fraud rules, and those are where most enforcement happens. Linktree's transparency report for January to June 2025 names spam and fraud as the top category for banned accounts.
How enforcement works
The first pass is automated on every large tool. A page gets reported, or a filter flags it, and the system acts before a person looks. Linktree reports 9,668 community reports in the first half of 2025, of which 18.26% were upheld, and 4,947 appeals, of which 20.48% were accepted. Three things to do before you build income on a bio page
- Read the policy page, not the marketing page. The links are in the table. Search the page for your category.
- Keep a copy of your links. Enforcement removes the page first and hears the appeal later.
- Weigh the domain, not just the policy. Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook filter links at the domain level, so a shared domain carries every other user's reports.
